This photographic art series explores my mother’s childhood memories and the resulting bond with her sisters. As her Alzheimer’s progressed, she began telling me stories about her childhood that she had not shared with me before. Stories of alcoholism and abuse they endured. Her disease had pierced through the heavily guarded walls she built around those experiences. My mother had nine siblings and growing up their money was tight. She always loved talking about the dresses her mother made, handed down from one to the next, and how they cherished them.
My mother was heavily involved with this series, from selecting the wardrobe, to assisting on set.
